The IVth Monographic Course on Conditions affecting the Digestive System, organised by HOSPITEN?s Digestive Department, was held at the Mencey Sheraton Hotel in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on 19th and 20th November 2004.

During the course, there was an in-depth review of Crohn?s Disease, the incidence of which increases from year to year in Spain. The directors of the intestinal inflammatory disease programmes from the Universities of Pennsylvania and Chicago (USA) were in attendance, amongst other famous Spanish and foreign professors.

Speakers from HOSPITEN included Dr Salvador Baudet and Dr Antonio Sánchez del Río from the Digestive Department, and Dr Manuel Sacaluga and Dr Maria Angeles Prytz from the Radiology Department.

In addition to having over 400 people attending, the Course was broadcast by video-conference to HOSPITEN hospitals in Mexico and the Dominican Republic. It was also followed by over 500 internet users who, having connected to Hospiten?s corporate web page, could watch the Course live. All of this was thanks to the hard work of the electromedicine and maintenance department.
